Divine Feminine Rising for International Women's Day

Divine Feminine Rising celebrates the place and power of women in society, in history and the knowledges passed down from our mothers and grandmothers, sisters and daughters.

International Women’s Day was held on March 8th this year. Divine Feminine Rising was a 25-minute dance piece commissioned by International Towers at Barangaroo.

An all-female cast of dancers from diverse cultures was featured and exquisite original music by Circle of Rhythm, Australia’s masters of percussion; Greg Sheehan, Bobby Singh and Ben Walsh.

Divine Feminine Rising began with a traditional dance by Rayma Johnson from Wiradjuri country. There were solos from each of the six dancers, an opening and closing group number choreographed by me.
We created this event in a very short 3-hour rehearsal and it was presented earyl morning in the windows of Lobby 3 to the staff entering the building and passers-by who loved seeing dance on their way to work at Barangaroo.
